I am an assistant professor of geography in the History and Political Science Department at York College of Pennsylvania. For more information about upcoming courses in Geography and GIS, check out my classes.
I am offering several courses that include international travel here at York College. One of these courses, Culture and Environment Field Series (G348/G349), is offered every summer. In 2009 we traveled to Peru, 2010 to Egypt, and 2011 to Turkey/Greece and also China. Future international destinations include Central America (2012) and East Africa (2013).
In 2010/11 I developed a class on international service-learning that is a three credit course over two semesters and includes a three-week trip to southern India to volunteer at orphanages affiliated with HOINA (G241/G242). I am extending the service learning class in 2012 to include other international service experiences for students. For more information on these international opportunities please contact me.
I'm preparing for two more courses with travel in the summer of 2012. The first will be during minimester and include international travel to Central America. The second will be offered Spring/Fall of 2012 with travel to Panama in August where students will work with Global Environmental Brigades on sustainability-related projects in Panama. The program with travel to Central America will be under the Cultures and Environments Field Series course and Panama will be through the International Service Learning course. A detailed itinerary for Central America can be found here. Contact me for more information.
