This field course
examines the human and physical geographies of a particular
international destination (a specific destination will be chosen
each year). The class will start and end in the classroom by
covering topics that include: globalization, sustainable tourism,
cultural, political and historical geographies, architecture,
urbanization, economic development, climate, landforms, topography
and environmental conservation. The classroom component is
supplemented by a field trip to a specific international
destination. Permission
of the instructor is required.

Detailed itineraries and costs for upcoming trips will be posted as they become available. They syllabi for the courses will vary depending upon the region but overall will focus on preparing students to travel to the region, understanding the cultural dynamics within the region and as it relates broadly to what is happening here in the US, reflection of what students learn both in the classroom and abroad, and how they can better understand their major in an international or global context.
