  • Eclipse: This is the Java IDE we will be using. It's free! You should download the latest (Galileo) release.
  • http://java.sun.com: There is where you can download the Java Development Kit (JDK), which is needed to run Eclipse and also the Java programs you will be writing. Free! Make sure you get the JDK, not just the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Download the latest stable version.
  • How To Think Like a Computer Scientist: A free introductory Java textbook. You may find this useful as a supplement to the Weiss book.
  • JavaBat is a collection of online Java programming exercises developed by Nick Parlante of Stanford University. You may find these useful to test your understanding of Java concepts.
